SoDak Title Company - Privacy Policy Notice
Title V of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) generally prohibits any financial institution, directly or through its affiliates, from sharing nonpublic personal information about you with a nonaffiliated third party unless the institution provides you with a notice of its privacy policies and practices, such as the type of information that it collects about you and the categories of personas or entities to whom it may be disclosed. In compliance with the GLBA, we are providing you with this document, which notifies you of our privacy policies and practices.
We may collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:
- Information we receive from YOU such as on applications or other forms whether it be in writing, by phone or by other means
- Information about your transactions we secure from our files, or from our affiliates or others
- Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency
- Information we receive from others involved in the transaction, such as the real estate agent or lender.
We request information from you for our own legitimate business purposes and not for the benefit of any nonaffiliated party. Therefore, we will not release your information to nonaffiliated parties except: (1) as necessary for us to provide the product or service you have requested of us; or (2) as permitted by law. We may provide this information to our affiliated companies to include financial service providers, title insurers, property and casualty insurers or companies involved in real estate services to include appraisal companies, home warranty companies, and escrow companies.
As a former customer, our Privacy Policy will continue to apply to you. If documents from your closing are requested by a person NOT a party to the transaction, we will require your written authorization at that time to release that document to the third party requestor.
We will use our best efforts to ensure that no unauthorized parties have access to any of your information. We restrict access to nonpublic personal information to those individuals and entities who need to know that information to provide products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.
